December

We stayed busy during December. Brent and I went to our first Flames game in Nashville and they actually WON!!!! They got a shut out so we didn't have to hear the stupid Predators fans do their rude cheer even one time!! It was great! We got the Hockey package from the dish company this year, so we've been watching A LOT of hockey round here! We never miss a game, sometimes we watch it late, but we watch it none the less. This is the most hockey I've ever watched, but it has been fun to hang out w/ Brent so much.

We also got the blinds installed in our new home. We lived with the "fish bowl" effect for about 5 months. It has been nice to be able to close up some windows now tho. :-)
We both got callings in our ward. I was called to be the Relief Society Childrens Class leader. (which essentially means that I get to miss all the big RS activities cuz I'm running the childcare.) And I am also over one of the groups in the RS. Brent was called to be Ward Music Chairman.

At the Ward Christmas Party, Liza and Brent both performed. Liza played 2 christmas songs on her flute, and Brent joined in a brass ensemble and played a few songs. They both did a great job and sounded beautiful. On that same night Brent and I went to his work Christmas party. It was a personal affair, held at some ones home. It was nice, the decorations were incredible, but I knew no one, and so I just played sweet little wifey all night. ;-)

Both of the kids had Recitals. You heard the recording (below) of Liza's piece. She did us proud that day. She shows such potential in her music. Alex had his first Piano Recital, he did a great job and put us all in the Christmas mood w/ Jolly old Saint Nicholas.

We threw our first annual Christmas Party (done Turpin/Edwards style) a gift exchange and tons of treats to share. It was fun, no one was stealing gifts tho, so maybe next year people will be more comfortable. :-) We plan to do it every year, so that will be fun!

Liza had 4 teeth extracted to prepare for her orthodontic work. She was a real trouper and acted like it was nothin'. She got the wires on her bottom braces, but not on the top. Next month she should be all the way in her braces.

Grandpa came for Christmas again. It just doesn't feel like Christmas with out him here now. We chased around the country looking for a light display to take the place of the amazing light display that we went to in Maryland for 4 years. We hauled all the way out to.... who knows where.... to see their lights.... it was a pretty good display, but just not maryweather post pavilion. We had some lovely BBQ pork at a little establishment off the road. It was delicious! I would go back there for sure! We found out that right here in Clarksville they have a fun light display right on the river! You walk through it, rather then drive, but that's cool too. We also went over to watch a house that had it's lights all coordinated with a radio station. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING display. Very impressive.

And our Santa picture at Bass Pro shop... They do the picture for free, and you can get what is called a "Bass Pass" so that you don't have to stand in line to wait. This is quite the little treasure that I never knew about! COOL!
He was such a great Santa. He asked the kids the normal questions, and then he said "hey," as we were getting ready to leave "... and would you guys quit fighting." LOL!!! The kids were sure that the "elf on the shelf" was telling santa about all their fighting. It was great!

in reference to your new calling...if you can get the youth and priesthood ahead of time to do the children's class you won't have to miss anything big...just pop in every once in awhile. then the ladies don't have to miss either. i was the enrichment counselor just before i got called as the primary pres and we tried to alternate between using the YW and the priesthood so they only had to do it twice a year.

glad you guys got to do some col christmas stuff! we love those lights with the music too...very cool! :)
